Expert's Quote

"Children benefit most from teachers who have the skills, knowledge, and judgment to make good decisions and are given the opportunity to use them." – NAEYC, Developmentally Appropriate Practice in Early Childhood Programs Serving Children from Birth through Age 8 (2009) - Susan Bredekamp

  1. I absolutely agree with this quote. Other than having the right knowledge and skills, teachers must be provided with an opportunity to practice their knowledge and be able to express their opinion. I have had the experience of working for a school where everything was pre-designed and ready for the teachers and we were not welcome to express our opinion or give any feedbacks. I didn't find it a pleasant experience working for that institute.

  2. I too believe that teachers should have skills, knowledge, and judgment. I have only worked with one facility and our curriculm is provided but it is up to the teacher to promote an effective lesson plan for each week. You miust be able to come up with activities that motivates, and interest the child.

  3. What curriculum are you using at your facility? I too have to design and create lesson plans from the school's curriculum, were using Creative Curriculum for infants/toddlers and two's, which I've had a pleasant experience with using thus far, especially because it give you, the teacher so much freedom to work with, of course it encourages you to utilize the child's interest but it's very flexible to work with and suggest many great activities and examples.
